Alpine ISD Opens Recommendations for High School Gym Renaming

Alpine Independent School District invites students, staff, alumni, and community members to submit recommendations to name the Alpine High School Gymnasium. The renaming will be accompanied by focused renovations of the gymnasium, estimated at $160,000. Wilson-Stice Court within the AHS Gym will retain its name; this project will rename the gymnasium as a whole.

Recommendations must align with Board policy CW(LOCAL), which calls for honoring individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the improvement of public education and who represent exemplary qualities for students. Nominations may recognize living or deceased individuals, though preference is given to those who are no longer living.

Alpine ISD will accept individual submissions only (no petitions) and welcomes optional information about any personal or group financial contributions or fundraising support toward the renovation project.

Deadline for recommendations: Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

Recommendation forms and instructions are available at alpine.esc18.net/gym-renaming.

The Alpine HS Gym Renaming Committee will review recommendations in early November 2025, then will submit advancing recommendations to the Superintendent for presentation to the Alpine ISD Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees will review the committee’s recommendations at two consecutive regular meetings before making a final decision.
